sequential art is storytelling. Telling tales (fictitious or not) through the juxtaposition of images and words. That’s the text book definition.
But the unique quality of the artform actually lies in the empty spaces! In the nothing... Like magic! The reader fills in the gaps between every single image. It’s his or her imagination that makes the storytelling happen.
And nothing - - nothing - - rattles the brain quite like a well composed sequence. An organized collection of lines oozing meaning through every pore of the paper on which they were drawn...
